Monday 30th May 2016
Cheam Fair is organised by Cheam Rotary Club. It was first started in 1977, and today it’s one of the largest annual local community events. It’s a fun day out for everyone, especially families. What’s more, with new attractions and more stalls than ever, the Fair has grown year on year – some 6500 people attended in 2015.
The Centre Arena is packed with displays, including The Black Eagles – acrobats that include a fire limbo sequence in their performance. That’s on top of a Children’s Corner, Beer Tent, 50 stalls, selling everything from honey to plants, and handbags to cakes, Radio Jackie Roadshow, Funfair, Punch and Judy, a balloon race, coconut shy and hoopla. and much more!
Admission is just £1 for adults and 50p children. Cheam Rotary will donate all profits to The Royal Marsden and Sutton and Merton Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre. There is no parking on site, but you can catch the 213 or 151 bus. There are bus stops beside the entrance to the park. The 93 bus stop is only a short walk away.
The event takes place on the late May Bank Holiday, in Cheam Recreation Ground. The organisers, Cheam Rotary Club, make a point of showcasing community groups like Cheam Gym Club, Fighting Fit Martial Arts, Fiesta Fitness will be doing a Zumba demo and Carshalton Cheerleaders who put on displays throughout the afternoon.
